Visiting the Wiesbaden Cheerleaders
Julia Grundkowski and Laura Kuhn

After we had talked to our exchange partners we went to the high school, but we could not go into the high school directly because the security needed the passports from Ms. Trüschler and Ms. Brünger. When the security checked the passports we could go into the high school. There we did not know where to go, but a woman showed us the way to the gym. We were lucky because when we went into the gym it began to rain. When we went into the gym, the cheerleaders already practiced. We sat down in a circle on the floor. The coaches and the cheerleaders also came to us and sat down on the floor. The coaches were two women and they were very nice. One of the coaches said that we could ask them something that we were interested in, but nobody wanted to ask anythingJ. Then the cheerleaders showed us some moves. We really liked that, but we were very surprised that the cheerleaders were so loud. But they have to be so loud, because when the football players have a game the cheerleaders must cheer for the team and the audience from the game. After that the coaches said that we could also practice something with them. Many boys and girls wanted to cheer a bit with them, but not all boys and girls from our class. At first the cheerleaders showed us how to push some of us up in the air. Then Ms. Trüschler and Laura had to do that with Julia. One of the coaches asked her if she was scared about that. Julia answered that she got scared. The cheerleaders did that with the others, too. That made lots of fun. Then we got “Pompoms”. The cheerleader team showed us a little dance with them. The dance was with some little moves. We needed some time to practice. During the little dance we shouted all together “to the G, to the O, Go, Go”. We showed that to the others from our class. After that we said that it was really nice that they had showed us everything and thanked them. The cheerleaders liked that and then they went with us to the football practice outside. Then they also said goodbye to us.
